About First Baptist
For more than 180 years, FBC has worshiped and served in Jefferson City. We are a Christian community rooted in the Baptist tradition, shaped by meaningful worship, and committed to loving our neighbors well.

Who we are
We are called to worship God, share the Good News, foster spiritual growth, and meet the needs of hurting people.
Our membership and every position within our church are open to all people regardless of race, social status, gender, or sexual identity. This is not a side note to our life together. It is one expression of our conviction that the love of Christ breaks down barriers.
We value honest questions, the gifts of women and men in ministry, freedom of conscience, and cooperation with Christians beyond our own tradition.
Our beliefs
Foremost, we are a Christian church. We express our faith through historic Baptist principles that protect both conviction and freedom.
Every person has the freedom and responsibility to relate directly to God.
Learn moreScripture is central, and every Christian is free to interpret it under the Spirit’s leadership.
Learn moreThe local church is free to order its worship, leadership, and work under Christ.
Learn moreWe support freedom of religion, freedom for religion, freedom from religion, and separation of church and state.
Learn moreOur story
FBC’s history is not a straight line. It is a story of people joining together, rebuilding after loss, reconsidering old boundaries, and following conviction into a changing future.
Chapter 01 of 07
