Who we are

A community shaped by Jesus.

We are called to worship God, share the Good News, foster spiritual growth, and meet the needs of hurting people.

Our membership and every position within our church are open to all people regardless of race, social status, gender, or sexual identity. This is not a side note to our life together. It is one expression of our conviction that the love of Christ breaks down barriers.

We value honest questions, the gifts of women and men in ministry, freedom of conscience, and cooperation with Christians beyond our own tradition.

FBC’s history is not a straight line. It is a story of people joining together, rebuilding after loss, reconsidering old boundaries, and following conviction into a changing future.

Chapter 01 of 07

Two congregations became one.

Black Oak Church and Oakland Church united to form Mossy Creek Baptist Church. Civil War fighting later interrupted meetings, but the congregation recovered and expanded its commitment to missions.
